Boulder Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the US states of Arizona and Nevada. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives. The dam was controversially named Hoover dam in honor of President Herbert Hoover. I have a college friend who is graduating and going back to his home country and we are trying to get out and do something together one last time before its too late and this is one of the stops on a long road trip. We should have about 4 hours and would like to see at least one of the park’s main attractions. Hopefully this would include a trail or two. I know more time would be best but we will have to make due with the time that we do have.
