Is it possible to cover "Village route" & "Kaibab trail route" in 2.5 hrs with a shuttle bus in Grand Canyon?
I am planning to take a tour which gives about 3 hours time on Grand Canyon South Rim. I want to see all the scenic/famous vista points in "Village route" & "Kaibab trail route" using a shuttle bus which is available in Grand Canyon. My first question is that if it is possible to cover everything at South Rim in 2.5 hours? If not, then what are the most suggested vista points that can be covered in this amount of time. I am not going for hiking any trail as such.
Also, if the above option is not possible, can I hire a cab for 2.5 hours to see all of these points? What people usually do?
I also came across two tours (from Grand-Adventures) which covers one side in one tour. Although I liked that, but that covers only one side which is little less for me. Please advice.

My advice would be to take one of the tours and use the remaining time to walk around the hotels and museums, etc. Buy/bring a light snack (or lunch) and walk along the Rim Trail and enjoy the scenery. Find a spot, park your butt and have that snack and just enjoy the views and the sounds. The more you try to cram in that small window of time, the less you will actually really see.
It is possible to get on both buses on the routes you mentioned and "see" the routes in the time allotted (according to the park the trips are 60 and 30 mins respectively) but once you exit the bus and look around you can kiss the time good bye. You’ll want to linger and photograph and look and listen.
Hiring a cab is out of the question. And what most people do is probably what you want to do, cram everything into a tiny window of time. That’s why more than a handful of people who visit the Grand Canyon find it to be a "big hole in the ground". Go and see a little less but see it much better!

Here’s another idea
Take a cab out to Pima Point on W.Rim Drive
then walk the 5.1 miles along the Rim Trail to the warmth and comfort of Hermits Rest and then either hitchhike or take a cab back to your tour group
You can shorten that distance by a mile if you get dropped off at the Abyss parking area
Stay warm ,hydrated and fed
