Heading to Vegas Monday and I’ve been there a bunch of times and have done a bunch of the strip dining. Wondering about those local gems that the locals go to when they want a great meal.
Any type of food.
China Garden on Spring Mountain Road (Chinatown) for dim sum. Technically, you’ll find a lot of tourists there, the asians from LA who want to get good dim sum as close as possible to the Strip that isn’t outrageously priced. It’s a solid joint, just be sure to go before 11:30 on weekends because it can get busy.
However, for dinner, I ALWAYS take out of town guests to Lotus of Siam (about a mile East of the Strip on Sahara). It’s in a totally humble strip mall, and the space itself has at best an uninspiring decor. But if you look on the walls, there’s been a lot of celebs there – the food is great and the prices reasonable because it’s not on the strip. I took a friend whose mom is thai and he said it was the most accurate thai he’s had outside of his home. Reservations strongly recommended. www.saipinchutima.com
Straight from SoHo, where it earned the coveted Three Star designation from The New York Times, Fiamma presents traditional Italian cuisine in sleek, sexy surroundings. Enjoy cocktails fireside before or after dinner. But it’s the food that is the star here. Chef Michael White brings authentic Italian fare from Sicily and Milan to your table, including braised veal osso bucco, ricotta cheese tortelli and Bolognese rigatoni.

Will be in Las Vegas in December and want a nice dinner after a wedding for approx 10 people. We’ll be staying on the strip so we’d prefer to dine on the Strip, but would appreciate any ideas in the Las Vegas area. Thanks!
RAO’s at Ceasars.
We are going to be there for 5 days I want to go to a good lunch buffet and a dinner buffet. I have already been to the Bellagio and T.I. the last time in we were in Las Vegas. We love good food but do not like seafood, duck or lamb.Any suggestions? Also we plan on spending a day downtown, does any one have suggestions for a good decent priced place to eat, either buffet or sitdown. Thanks for your help!!!!
Breakfast at the Paris is to die for. The Cannery has a buffet with good baked salmon. Texas Station prepares their fish well. The American Casino Guide had a number of coupons. El Cortez was nice. There was a really nice place in the Venetian for breakfast, downstairs. A little spendy, but very good. (I went there after a good winning)
NO!

I am stayin a few doors down from the Paris and would love to have some wonderful crossants for the morning. I see two places that offer them.. Lenotre in the shopping area and JJ boulangerie in the hotel area I believe that is a small bakery/cafe. Anyone eaten there and if so how expensive is it, am I going to pay 4-5 $ for one crossant? Also we will be dining at Mon Ami Gabi outdoor cafe for dinner one evening and I have found their menu but has no prices. Has anyone had dinner here and if so about how much was it and did it include drinks… that is always what drives the price up fast? Thanks so much for any feedback or suggestions for other places if you have better!
If you want to spend some $$$, walk a little further to Caesars and check out Payard … French patisserie & bistro. Talk about amazing pastries … even a prix fixe dessert menu!
Then for some shopping, go to the Forum Shops.
Family of 5 looking to dine in Vegas without breaking the bank! Must be family friendly.
Circus Circus is the cheapest, but the food is awful. All of the "Station" casinos have reasonably priced, tasty buffets. Most of the places on Fremont Street are pretty good. The California, located at the end of Fremont Street across from the Plaza has a great breakfast menu, plus good .99 shrimp cocktails. The sandwiches and hot dogs are really good also.
Be sure and look for coupons both online and at whatever hotel you are staying at. A lot of the coupon books offer two for one, specials, etc.
Another tip for you. The breakfast is the cheapest buffet, then the lunch, then the dinner. However, if you go right at the end of the "breakfast" time (usually around 10:30) or at the end of the "lunch" buffet (varies), you catch it at the cheaper price but they are getting ready to change out all the food for the next meal. That way you get the meal for the cheaper price, and nobody care show long you stay and pick at your food.
If you want great buffets, not paying attention to costs, I’d suggest the Bellagio and the Rio. The Bellagio has a fantastic buffet with a lot of food you don’t get anywhere else. If you go between lunch and supper it isn’t a bad deal for such great food.
Also, generally the food on Fremont Street is cheaper than the food on the strip.
One last tip, there is a Thai restaurant called the Lotus of Siam which is located off the strip, is great, has a buffet and even the stuff on the menu is reasonable. It is one of the better Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to.
Lux Cafe in the Venetian Great food, great prices, and best of all great service…
